I’m not going to go into a long tirade here about how crappy The Iggles fans are. We all know that Veteran’s Stadium was the first stadium in America to have its own jail. We all know that they broke Chief Zee’s leg. We all know they booed Santa Claus. They’re pretty much all a bunch of Codpieces, we know that. But do we know the reason why?
It must be because they’ve never won The Super Bowl. Ever. Superbowl record: 0-2.
Well, let’s hope that trend continues this Sunday at 1pm when McNabb and Co. host our Washington Redskins. A loss by Philadelphia will knock them down to 2-3 with all three loses within the conference, and two of those within the NFC East. Hard to get to The Super Bowl with a record like that to start the season.
On the flip side, even after stringing together a three-game winning streak The Washington Redskins still aren’t getting the recognition they deserve and are currently 7 1/2 point underdogs on the road. What’s up with that? Philly loses to The Cowboys and The Redskins beat Dallass, and yet we’re underdogs by over a touchdown?
Some people have been saying that this is a trap game for The Redskins, that they’re going to be unmotivated after beating their biggest rival in The Almost Dome last weekend. Some have been saying that The Iggles are going to be bloodthirsty, like a caged animal, knowing that this game is immensely important for them to win if they are thinking about winning the uber-tough NFC East, or even making the playoffs. All I know is, there are three things I can guarantee you: Jason Taylor and Shawn Springs will not play. Brian Westbrook, the most important player on that team, will play, at least in the beginning of the game. The Eagles will blitz like their lives depend on it. And once more thing - it won’t matter.
Jim Zorn will have his Washington Redskins prepared to play this weekend, no doubt about it. There will be no letdown after last weekend, no trap game for The ‘Skins, no, none of that. That Dallass game is ancient history as far as the coaching staff is concerned, and I truly believe we’re going to see a team that understands that and is ready for the challenge of playing in The City of Brotherly Hate. Beating The Cowboys is awesome, but so is 4-1.
One Game at a Time, Brothahs!
HAIL!
