Podcast #193 is UP! (and) Redskins Sending Spam!!!

John

Dudes, Podcast #193 is up with Josh back in the house and ready to roll.  Check it out on iTunes or whatever you prefer.

In other news, Yahoo! Sports and The Post are both reporting on the latest slap across the fans' (read:  You and Me) proverbial faces.  The Redskins have sent the loyal fans on their mailing list, you know, the 160,000 still waiting for their season tickets (like me...three times), the following email and video:

Redskins Recruit New Powerhouse

John Adams,

Today the Washington Redskins appointed a new leader that will strengthen the team with speed, control, spirit and drive.

As a passionate fan, we invite you to experience firsthand what this means for the future of the Washington Redskins.

Click on the video or personalized link below to view this special message:

At this point there is a video that, if you click on it, sends you to THIS website.

Hmmm, six o'clock.  Time to piss off the fans again...

Yeah, the new leader of the Washington Redskins is Audi.

Danny, Vinny, and that David "No Signs" Donovan guy have learned nothing.  Absolutely Nothing.  What a joke.

Hail.

Cooley to IR, Jarmon Also

When the hell did Jarmon get hurt???

The Redskins placed "Captain Chaos" Chris Cooley on Injured Reserve due to his broken right ankle, ending his season.  There was talk that he would be back and playing by now, but it seems his ankle is taking longer to heal than some thought, and with the season pretty much sucking ass at this point, they decided to give #47 a few more months off.  Fred Davis will continue to play first team at Tight End.  I hope he's practicing catching the ball with his hands - if you throw the ball over his head don't expect him to pull it down.  In fact, you better hope no one intercepts it after Davis tips it into the air.

At least Davis can learn on the job, so to speak.

Don't feel too bad for him, Chris comes home to this every night.

...and by the way, where's our thank you note for the napkin ring, Christy?  Seriously...

-In other injury news, Jeremy Jarmon tore his left ACL during a kickoff and is out for the year as well.  He and Ladell Betts can rehab together!

-Clinton Portis is out for the game against the Saints.  They might as well put him on IR as well.

-Aaron's Dog Justin Tryon left the game with a Hip Pointer, but is expected to play this weekend.  Smoot left with an unspecified head injury, and along with DeAngelo Hall and Albert Haynesworth, he's looking Questionable so far.

-Jason Campbell said he blacked out for a second on that late hit by Juqua Parker at the end of the Eagles game.  One of many examples of horrible officiating - we'll talk more about that in the podcast this week.  Ineligible Lineman downfield, anyone?

-Defensive End Rob Jackson and Linebacker Alvin Bowen were signed from the Practice Squad.  Surprisingly, Marcus Mason hasn't been CUT! yet.  Not that he should be, but the Redskins haven't been smart enough to keep him what, three times so far?  Four?  Some DL named Antoine Holmes was signed to th Practice Squad.  One spot remains open.

At least most of the team still has heart and hasn't given up.  For having nine players on IR, I think the team is playing it's best football of the season right now.  Except for Stephon Heyer.  CUUUUUUUUUUT!!!

I said I love me some Holding penalties! (credit - bleacherreport.com )

Will Grimm Get His Due?

Posted by: John in Untagged  on

John

All-Time Hog Great Russ Grimm has made the final 25 list again for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.  Will the Four-Time Pro Bowler finally make the cut? Grimm has been painfully close each of the last few years.

Brother Russ!  Brother Grimm! - The Lost Colony, 1997.

I don't know how there isn't a single member of The Hogs in The Hall yet - they led the Redskins to four Superbowls in ten years, winning three with a different Running Back and Quarterback each time.

The Hall only accepts a maximum of seven inductees every year.  Jerry Rice and Emmitt "Just For Men" Smith are locks.  Dick LeBeau should be a lock but dumbasses like Peter King of Sports Illustrated and NBC never seem to make intelligent decisions when it comes to this sort of thing (See: Art Monk).  Shannon Sharp and Charles Haley also have a great shot this year.  Grimm should be right there with them.  Actually, he should be ahead of them.

It was freaking fantastic getting Darrell Green and Art Monk in - now it's time to really finish the job - Vote YES! on #68 Russ Grimm for the Hall of Fame!

HAIL!

Redskins Blow The Lead, Lose Again.

John

Dudes, there's just no excuse for this one.  From the wide open TD they gave up in the first half (either 30 or 22 blew the coverage), to two twelve men on the field penalties, to at least two penalties for Stephon Heyer, to the horrible tackling late in the game, to the no-call when Jason Campbell got housed late at the end of the game, the Redskins stunk it up while managing to score 24 points and make us feel like we actually had a chance to win up until the very end.

Another late lead, another loss to a division rival.  And another game we absolutely should have won.  Unbelievable.

Hail.

It's Gameday, Get PUUUUUUUMPED!!!!!

Remember Sean Taylor today.

Here's the latest going into today's game against the Iggles:

-Rock Cartwright is making his first start since 2003. That was also against Philly.

 Rock is Pumped.

-DeAngelo Hall is out, so Carlos Rogers gets to guard DeSean Jackson.  Yikes.

-Phat Albert is out again with a sprained ankle.

-Kevin Barnes will be active for the first time this year.

-Marcus Mason is back and will be active today.

-Andre Woodson, the Practice Squad QB, was cut and Richard Bartel, another QB whom you've never heard of, has been signed to the Practice Squad.  FB Jonathan Evans has also been added to the Practice Squad. Not that any of these guys are going to get on the field today.  Or ever.

-It looks like Edwin Williams, the undrafted rookie from Maryland, will start at Right Guard over Mike Williams.  Both are active, however.

Hail #21
