There was a scrimmage? Did The Redskins show up? PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 04 August 2007

My thoughts on the scrimmage:

Other than Fred Smoot, was anyone playing pass defense?  All the Ravens had to do was run a play that got someone into the open seams in the cover-2 that Gregg Williams still seems to think don't exist, and the Ravens Quarterback, any Ravens Quarterback, could drop back and zing a pass to an open guy at his leisure.

James Thrash is ready to play.  Right now.

Mark Brunell is done.  It's starting to get uncomfortable watching him play.

A lot of starters sat out on offense, and some on defense.  Good call by Gibbs.  This doesn't have to be a 5th preseason game.

The starting secondary will be Springs, Smoot, Taylor and if Landry isn't starting, he will be very, very soon.  It's obvious that they want him and Taylor on the field together whenever possible.

The Ravens announcers on MASN showed why they are on MASN.  Would you mind telling us who any of the players are?  Please?

Is Derrick Blaylock going to have more carries this year than Clinton Portis?

How can you flag a guy for a late hit at the goal line when you didn't even blow the whistle?  Both guys were continuing the play!

A quarterback is probably going to be cut this week, and it's going to be the wrong one.

Big Smooth looked smooth - for the 32 seconds that he played.

The D Line looks just as bad as they did last year, and I don't see any improvements coming.

It's only a scrimmage, and without many of the starters.  However, Baltimore was in the same boat and they look like they are ready to start the season.  The Redskins, in contrast, looked as if they had just flown in on the red-eye and they were up all night next to the crying kid and the loud laugher on the airplane (Blades of Glory is not that funny folks.  Not That Funny).

I hope the first preseason game goes a bit better than today.  That was difficult to watch, even taking into account how many starters were sidelined.

Hail.

John

PS - Ray Lewis either murdered, or knows who murdered, two men in Atlanta in 2000.  Don't ever, ever forget that.

Good calls, compeltely agree. only thinks I'd add are Cooley did look cool in the Bermuda shorts and knee high yellow socks... but c'mon alreay. enuf with the Sock-crap. Sure Cooley comes to play -but win some fucking games before you guys show so much attitude...

I thought HB Blades looked pretty good for a Rookie (and I don't even like the guy).

I don't know who looked worse... Brunell or Collins....
Did you see the first pass Brunell threw on the 11-on-11???? Friggin' Wide Reciever screen........enough with that already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
